Through inspections at Howard Park Reserve, Skate Park, it had become evident that existing soft fall rubber on the mounds required replacement of a more durable and sustainable product. This project involved the removal and ethical disposal of the existing soft fall on the mounds, earthworks relating to the forming of the mounds and then the install and maintenance of the roll out turf.
Detailed list of works completed include:
- Installation of secure temporary fencing for the period of works as well as the maintenance period.
- Removal and ethical disposal of the existing soft fall rubber material. Council required
evidence of this disposal. - Earthworks for the reforming of the mounds to the correct level.
- Install of appropriate roll out turf for the NT climate including all associated topsoil, fertiliser and top dressing.
- Install of temporary irrigation to irrigate the turf for 6 weeks to ensure best chance of
establishment. - Maintenance of the new turf for a period of 6 weeks after works completed. This included but was not limited to ensuring the irrigation is consistent, mowing if required, temporary fencing upkeep.
- Concrete connection footpath from the existing carpark to the waiting area of the skate park. The footpath was constructed as per the NT Government Standards.
